Was supposed to go to the zoo today but had car issues so instead took car to the shop. Still no word from them. Mitch made me breakfast while I pruned hydrangeas I ate and went out and pruned the rest and weeded the hydrangea bed. There are at least thirty hydrangea. After bagging that stuff up, I planted a calla lilly and started weeding around the landscaping. I am 3/4 done with it but had to come in for some water and rest. Someone should make a gardening workout it is some of the best cardio I get. After I finish this yard I need to go do the hydrangeas on the side of the house. Then I don't know what. Mitch is napping. I tried to convince him or my mom to go hiking with me later to no avail. Ah well. Back to outside I go.

I'm awake. Finally. I slept hard last night.

I have a busy weekend---helping mom do some...stuff in Nanny's apartment, doing yard work, trying to get a bike tune up, laundry, papers, helping a friend pack, etc. I'm just finishing my coffee before heading out to do yard work.

Next week starts phase 2 of Operation Pinniped which is switching only to lean proteins and whole grains and giving up cheese and sugar and red meat.

*sigh*

It was amazing as it always is. There were great clothing finds and I love that the flea happens. I love that I'm part of making the flea happen. Most of all though, I'm thankful for [livejournal.com profile] bounce_n_jiggle for coming up with the idea and making it happen for so many years. I'm thankful to [livejournal.com profile] queen_bbb for asking me to help her organize. I'm thankful to [livejournal.com profile] mitchellatticus and [livejournal.com profile] gazebo_tree for all of their help and support this weekend. I'm thankful to [livejournal.com profile] pinkprincesszoe, [livejournal.com profile] leatherfish, [livejournal.com profile] bias_cut, [livejournal.com profile] failsafeheart, [livejournal.com profile] astoriaunt, Miasia, and Aris who stuck it out either to, or nearly to the end. I'm super thankful to [livejournal.com profile] nerd_dog and to [livejournal.com profile] queentushy for arriving at the end of the day to help us whisk away our leftovers.
And to Chris who brought miracle cupcakes.

Most especially I'm thankful for everyone who donated clothes, who came to volunteer (scheduled or not), and who generally gave each other compliments and spread the love throughout the day.

I can't wait for the next one!

Ok folks,

I'm going to SF this summer. I can go and not work, but I'd really prefer to have something to do. If you know of any colleges that regularly hire summer adjuncts, please let me know, I have excellent teaching qualifications for Writing and English classes.

If you know of any other part time work, that would rock too.

So, I didn't get the NEH seminar I applied for. I'm not really surprised there were only 15 spots in it.

This means however, according to my self-promise that I'm heading to SF for the summer.

Now, I need an adjuncting gig and a room.

If you know of either of the two, let me know!

Thank you for the Panera basket. We are very appreciative of it. It really relieves of us a lot of stress to have easy food on hand. Thank you thank you thank you.

Mary Prisco Guarino age 83 died early this morning.

I woke up from the phone ringing and then from my father keening with grief (it wasn't his mother).

My mother is angry. I am very sad.

My parents just went to the hospital and I'm here with Mitch...waiting. I don't quite know what to do.

Ok lots has been happening.

I'm feeling somewhat confused B. she told me she needed a bit of a break, and then she decided she didn't...I understood why she needed one, and I understand why she doesn't...but I like consistency. That said, I was happy to see her this weekend before I head to SF.

Yesterday was the first day of classes at this place where I work. We are on a modifed quarter system...we go 10-6-10-6 So our Spring ten week started yesterday. It's always exciting. Of course, right this minute, one of the maintainence guys is standing outside my office, on his cell phone, talking loudly, instead of emptying the trash. It's a bit annoying. Anyway, today is my first day of classes. I meet my new students. And they are brand spanking new. I'm teaching in a liberal arts cluster and I'm very excited about this. This evening, I leave for 4C's in SF. I'm a bit nervous about it this year. I'm not really excited about my paper and I hate that I'm leaving in the first week of the semster. And I hate flying. The upshot of it all is I get to see [livejournal.com profile] whimsicalpops, [livejournal.com profile] uglybass, and [livejournal.com profile] mirrormargaret

I'm going to miss Mitch. We had some nice time together on Friday/Saturday.

The other day, my ex's gf brought over a cat for me. When CAP died, she left a lot of animals. And one of them is an adorable orange outdoor cat named Rusty. So her gf brought Rusty too me since I have lots of outdoor space. Rusty is a love. I need to call my sister to feed her while I'm gone.

My Nanny is back in the hospital. She refused to go to Mt. Sinai from the nursing home. She says she wants to die. Yesterday, they rushed her to the local hospital because she was shaking so badly. They admitted her last night. Please keep her in your thoughts.

That's about all happening here.
