I've resisted doing this for a really long time as i wanted to post some stuff publicly. But, I'm going friends only. If you've been reading most of my posts, then you're clearly already a friend. If you were only getting sporadic posts from me, chances are you were on my public list. If you want to be added to my friends list, please let me know. Dear Community Members,

Finances are tight for all of us these days, particularly for community-supported events requiring travel and lodging, like the Femme Conference. After a great deal of effort and research, we have determined that it is not financially possible for us to hold the 2010 Femme Conference in Atlanta as we had hoped to do. We are incredibly hopeful for our future as an organization, but we believe that Atlanta would be cost prohibitive to both the members of the Steering Committee and to the larger Femme Conference constituency. We realize this is a disappointment for many of us.

However, we have decided that rather than skip a year, we have the resources to hold the Femme Conference in Oakland in 2010. We are tremendously excited at the prospects of holding a conference in the city we had originally chosen for the very first Femme Conference (we ended up in San Francisco as a result of financial considerations, so this feels like a full-circle in some ways)!

We appreciate your understanding and your continued support. All details about hotel, dates and calls for submission will be announced at the beginning of February. We are excited and we hope you are too!

It's been a super long time since I've posted. I'm keeping a number of handwritten journals, my biking blog, and facebook...it's just getting overwhelming to keep up with it all. But I don't want to let LJ go. Especially since I just re-upped my subscription.

Maybe this will be my last year.

So, I'm travelling oodles for work, but for fun I'm going to Melbourne, AU to visit DJ in February for two weeks. I cannot wait! I miss him a lot and look forward to spending time together. Anyone have any good hotel recommendations for Melbourne?
We're looking for inexpensive and clean.

I desperately need a pedicure. It's been forever like almost a month and I was going to go for one this afternoon, but so much for that idea.

Today we are heading to the nursing home to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. Gah.

It's fashion week in that other borough, but Brooklyn's bringing it indie style...for the curvy kittens and the fat cats!

who at 10:47 am are sitting with a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer outside Whole Foods. I wonder if they are secretely from Dumbo or Williamsburg.

I am getting ready to go for a bike ride. My gears are sticky but I'm gonna see if I can ride that out of them. They unstuck a bit while I was riding over here. First a quick bike back to the house to drop off the computer and then a real-ish ride.

Biking makes me happy.

I've not been posting a lot lately, I facebook---but I like LJ, but I'm also real writing these days which is a new and interesting shift for me.

Again, folks, I'm in Berkeley until Monday---- if you wanna make plans...give a ring...I'll be back in Berkeley on the 21.

Going out for dinner in the city tonight (giggles that's SF city not NYC)...and trying to figure out what to wear 'cause we're gonna ride bikes part way there. Ahhh femme clothing emergencies. My favorite.

I made a yummy dinner for two nights in a row. And I made myself some yummy eggs this morning.

Now to bike ride. Wish me luck!

I'm desperate for a bike....I need to ride about 10 miles a day plus use it as transportation---a loaner would be ideal...any help?

I rode 13 miles today. Slowly, but still. On my ride I saw a heron, a woodchuck, and a pretty yellow bird.

I also was catcalled nastily by construction workers. Honked out and shouted at from car windows nastily by drivers and nearly run off the road by a conversion van who couldn't be bothered to stay in his lane.

Lesson learned? It's possible to steer a bike, go over a pothole and stick up your middle finger all at the same time.

I just blew up at Mitch 'cause I was having issues with the birthday cake I was making for my father. Which I happilly volunteered to do. Then my mother starts yelling at me for the kitchen being too hot (I was doing other baking and we have an industrial stove that makes baking easy but hot) Then I get yelled at for saying we wanted my Nanny's marinara pot. My mother was like "why do you get it blah blah blah" and I said, I when I asked for it you didn't want it and Meghan didn't want it. And my mother launches into a crazy ass "well, you arlready make me feel guilty for giving your sister all the pots and pans and dishes" and I was like "What the hell are you talking about?!" Um hello. I've had two households of my own. I don't need pots and pans and dishes. I HAVE THEM. I didn't want them I didn't ask for them.

I am so sick of this bullshit and now my cousin who is supposed to be having her graduation party on Friday night might be switching it to Sunday when I already have some pretty seriously fixed plans. WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF

I am, if you cannot tell, throwing a tempertantrum right this minute. I'm done. Seriously.

Hi folks,

I'm trying to send emails with my Mac mail and it's not working----any ideas? It's never burped on me like this before.

So.

As you know, my Nanny died. Leaving vacant a large apartment. My parents had two options-1. Rent it to us below market price so we could continue to save for a house or 2. REnt it to a total stranger and have to deal with being landlords.

We win.

Not sure when we will actually move. We need a platform bed to make the space work. We have to pull our couch and some other stuff out of storage, but largely, it's furnished with stuff that I find comfortable and enjoyable to have near me. We will have privacy, fully functioning space and the ability to have friends over and live again. PHEW.

We have backyard access of course, so maybe will throw a bbq later in the year etc.

This feels good to me. Sad that it's nanny's apartment and she doesn't live there--but also---hard to go back to living with yer parents when you're in your thirities.

Yard work is DONE. Wow. That was hard. But relaxing. Now, I need a shower and then...I don't know what...I have cramps, so maybe just laying around doing nothing would work. Or perhaps I'll do the laundry.
